London projects sway August contracts league
Brookfield Multiplex staged a rare appearance at the top of the contracts league after scooping a £200m scheme for Linseed Assets for an office and retail scheme at Leicester Square in central London.
It was followed by Lend Lease, which was confirmed as main contractor after scooping a pre-contract, on a £150m job for Great Portland Estates to build 162 flats and some commercial units on a former Royal Mail site at Rathbone Place in central London.
Another big name in London, Laing O’Rourke secured a £100m job to build a research and translation hub in White City for Imperial College and Voreda.
And Ardmore checked in with a £100m job for the Soho House group to turn the historic former Midland Bank HQ at Poultry in the City of London into a 255-bed luxury hotel.
Balfour took the award as the most successful civil engineering contractor during the quiet industry month helped by a £75m contract for the DoT for work on the A63 at Castle Street in Hull.
But Kier continued to lead the rolling 12-month tables with orders of over £2bn, shadowed closely in second place by Balfour Beatty, which is closing the gap after several months of work wins.
