Job Title: Business Development Manager – Flooring, Tiling and Construction Products

Industry Sector: Architects, Interior Design, A&D, Specifiers, Specification Sales, Main Contractors, Flooring Contractors, Tiling Contractors, Screeding Contractors, Subfloor Preperation productds, DPM, Levelling Compounds and Adhesives

Areas to be covered: South West & South Wales

Remuneration: £45,000 + 15% bonus

The role of the Specification Sales Manager – Flooring, Tiling and Construction Products will involve:

• Field sales role selling a manufactured range of high performance tiling, flooring, screeding, sub-floor preparation and construction products including: DPM, levelling compounds, screed binders and adhesives
• Business development and specification field sales position, promoting tiling, flooring and screeding solutions including; DPM, levelling compounds and adhesives
• Targeting architects, interior designers, main contractors, installation contractors etc. for UK wide projects
• Current turnover is split 60% flooring, 30% tiling, 10% screeding, hence opportunity for growth in tiling and screeding sales
• Targeting commercial projects such; transport, hotels, office blocks, hospitals, schools, leisure centres, hospitality, motorcar showrooms, fast food restaurants, retail showrooms etc.
• 100% specification field sales role
• Identifying and investigating potential commercial market sectors, for both existing and future products
• Developing strategic alliances with complimentary manufacturers
• 75% new business development, 25% account managing existing projects and existing relationships (circa £500,000-£750,000 project bank to inherit, majority of new business will be conducted within known architects, out client has a database with relationships past and present with 8,000 architectural practises)
• Utilising lead generation from head office
• Typically 6-8 high quality customer meetings per week
• Targeted to achieve a written specification value of circa £2m
• Project sizes typically £25,000 but can be £100,000+
• Presenting approx. One RIBA approved CPD per month (full training will be provided)
• Following up on leads via ABI and using a Microsoft CRM system

The ideal applicant will be a Specification Sales Manager – Flooring, Tiling and Construction Products with strong skills in specification writingand sales in construction products with preferred experience in Tiling, Flooring, & Screeding, additional responsibilities:

• Architectural specification field sales experience with architects and/or interior designers would be ideal
• Also interested in experience with main contractors, installation contractors and complimentary manufacturers
• Preferably sold a technical building product rather than an aesthetically pleasing/ decorative product background
• Preferably with either CPD presentation experience or an openness to learn how to conduct a CPD seminar
• Solid work history, preferably no job hoppers
• Get up and go mentality
• Contacts within (a) Manchester or Leeds (b) South West & South Wales architects and interior designers is not essential, but preferable
• New business hunter, happy to get on the phone to make appointments with architects or interior designers
• Knowledge of tiling, flooring, screeding
