The role of the Key Account Manager – Plumbers Merchants & Distribution will involve:

• Field sales position, selling a distributed range of plumbing fitting, valves and accessories
• Key account management role, you will be responsible for growing sales with large national distributors and buying groups
• Initially responsible for circa 15 national distribution accounts, each with multiple plumbers merchant deports and one buying group
• Recruiting new distribution customers (ideally 3-5 per annum) and buying groups from your own existing contacts
• Expanding our clients’ relationships within the builders merchant buying groups, currently they are working with NMBS but would like to get in with Fortis and IPG etc.
• Account sizes can vary from £250,000 to £2m per annum
• Revenue responsibility for circa £3m, with as view to growing this to £5m over the next 2-3 years
• Act as lead point of contact for customers, resolving issues, complaints etc.
• Strategic planning/ negotiating contacts and establishing internal and external budgets
• Working with the design, sales team, marketing, logistics and accounts’ teams to ensure the trading relationship runs smoothly
• Up-selling and cross-selling to maximize profit potential of accounts

The ideal applicant will be a Key Account Manager – Plumbers Merchants & Distribution with:

• Proven field sales experience within the plumbing industry/ plumbing supplies
• Must have sold plumbing products into major plumbers merchants/ building merchants or buying groups
• Ability to operate at a senior level with national organisations
• Proven key account/ account development experience
• Contacts within distributors is preferred
• Incredibly pro-active, driven and motivated, prepared to manage the customers as if it was your own business
• Commercial acumen, resilient with strong negotiation skills at a high level with national accounts
