The role of the Regional Sales Manager – DIY Products will involve:

• Field sales role promoting our clients distributed product range for the professional trade
• Tasked with growing sales within DIY independent retailers and sheds
• Revenue responsibility for approx. £1m
• New role for the business, created through growth (splitting a larger existing patch)
• Targeting a mixture of accounts that have been identified to have excellent growth prospects and new DIY independent retailers and sheds
• Promoting a huge portfolio in excess of 25,000 products including; ironmongery, hardware, decorating products, electrical products, gardening, plumbing, pest control, tools, accessories etc.
• Analysing sales data and trends
• Creating and executing a business plans to ensure our client is the supplier of choice, organising plan-o-grams for merchandisers etc.
• Seeking out incremental sales and margin opportunities
• Following up on leads generated by In-house account managers and marketing (loads of office support)
• Circa 1,000 live customers (many of which will be too small to require client visits) with turnover between £100-£10,000

The ideal applicant will be a National Account Manager – DIY Products with:

• Field sales experience working within the DIY trade, such as independent retailers, builders merchants and sheds
• Established network and connections within independent DIY retailers and builders merchants would be useful
• FMCG training may be desirable
• Willing to travel (large area)
• Excellent sales, negotiation and presentation skills
• Analytical thinker, strong time management and organisational skills
• Knowledge of associated products e.g. ironmongery, hardware, decorating products, electrical products, gardening, plumbing, pest control, tools, accessories etc. not essential
• New business aptitude but with the ability to conduct retained account management
• Commercially aware
