Job Title: Business Development Manager – Plumbing and Heating

Industry Sector: National and Independent Plumbing and Heating Merchants, Wholesalers, Buying Groups, Housing Associations, Social Housing, M&E Contractors, Local Authorities, Distributors, Sanitaryware, Brassware, Plumbing, Heating and Light Building Products

Area to be covered: South West & South Wales

Remuneration: £40,000-£45,000 Neg. + 20% Bonus

Benefits: Fully expensed Hybrid or Electric Car & Full Benefits

The role of the Area Sales Manager Plumbing and Heating will involve:

  • Field sales role, promoting a large manufactured portfolio of plumbing and cistern products for new builds as well as plumbing repair products including: plastic WC cisterns, flushing siphons, flushing outlets and inlets, wall hung sanitary ware supports and spares and accessories
  • 60% of your time account managing approx. 150 owners/ buyers within plumbing and heating merchants and buying groups, across circa 300 sites
  • Customers vary in size from £500 to £120,000 with an average of £7,500
  • 40% of your time stimulating demand with end users such as M&E contractors, housing associations and social housing contractors and local authorities
  • Inheriting an area achieving £1.2m and performing in line with budget expectations
  • Typically 4 day on the road selling, one day working from home/ admin
  • KPI’s include circa 4 customer visits per day

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager Plumbing and Heating with:

  • Field sales track record within the plumbing & heating industry, ideally plumbing & heating repair products
  • Must have sold to contractors such as; M&E Contractors, plumbing & heating contractors, housing associations and social housing contractors or local authorities
  • Knowledge of plumbing & heating merchants and buying groups is not essential but may be advantageous
  • Ideally longevity in career
  • Tenacious mentality
  • Proven track record in field sales and territory management
  • Ideally some prior experience of selling into plumbers merchants and builders merchants
  • Preferably from a plumbing, heating, sanitary, brassware or other lightside building product background
  • Team player, bubbly character, fire in the belly
  • Relationship builder, friendly and approachable
