Area to be covered: South – ideally based near M4 Corridor

Remuneration: £40,000 – £42,000 Neg. + £5,000 uncapped commission

The role of the Area Sales Designer – Truss/ Joist and Timber Frame will involve:

  • Field sales role, selling an engineered range of construction connectors for OEMs within truss/ joist, timber frame, light gauge steel (LGS) and mass timber sectors
  • Majority of time will be spent selling into the OEMs and structural engineers, smaller proportion of time trying to influence national housebuilders and win specifications (growth area)
  • 60% of your time trying to develop sales from within existing relationships, 40% new business development
  • Looking after some large OEM customer accounts, e.g. £1.1m, £700,000 and £400,000 accounts, plus a number achieving £100,000 turnover per annum
  • Responsible for an area that achieved £3.4m last year (98% of budget), circa 50-60 OEM accounts day one
  • Producing reports and data as required on current sales activity
  • Supporting new product development

 

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Designer – Truss/ Joist and Timber Frame with:

  • Must have a proven field sales track record and an understanding of the engineered products market; Truss/ Joist, Timber Frame, Light Gauge Steel and Mass Timber sectors
  • The perfect candidate is an ex designer that has just moved into a sales role, or designer that is very hands on with the customer
  • Experience using Mitek, Wolf Systems or Gangnail software or similar, whilst working for a fabricator like Donaldson, Crendon, Pasquill who produce, trusses, joists and timber frame would be ideal
  • Previous experience of selling into OEM or structural engineers preferred
  • Specification experience with national housebuilders may be advantageous but is not essential
  • Technical background preferred (technically demanding role)
  • Excellent relationship building and business development skills
  • Exceptional commercial acumen
  • Tenacious and proactive
